What do I need to rent a trailer?

To rent one of our trailers, you’ll need:

  • A valid driver's license
  • Current insurance on the vehicle towing the trailer
  • A valid credit or debit card on file
  • A properly equipped tow vehicle

Renters must be at least 25 years old.

What kinds of trailers do you rent?

Our growing fleet includes utility trailers, car haulers, and enclosed cargo trailers. Each trailer listing includes dimensions, weight, payload capacity, hitch requirements, electrical connection, pricing, availability, and other important specifications.

What if I'm not sure which trailer I need?

Tell us what you're hauling, its approximate size and weight, and what vehicle you'll be towing with. We can help you determine which trailer may be the best fit. The renter is ultimately responsible for confirming that the tow vehicle and equipment are properly rated for the trailer and intended load.

Which trailer is right for me?

A quick starting point:

  • UTILITY TRAILER — ATVs, lawn equipment, furniture, appliances, home-improvement projects and general hauling.
  • CAR HAULER — Cars, side-by-sides, equipment and other vehicles that require a larger flat deck.
  • ENCLOSED TRAILER — Moving, furniture, equipment, merchandise and cargo you want protected from the weather.
EASY PICKUP & BOOKING
Can I reserve a trailer online?

Yes. Our online booking system lets you view available trailers, select your rental dates, review pricing, and complete your reservation. We designed the process to be quick, convenient, and straightforward.

How do I pick up my trailer?

Once your reservation and rental agreement are completed, we'll send detailed instructions explaining how to access our rental lot, locate your trailer, and complete the pickup process.

Do you offer after-hours pickup and return?

Yes. Convenient self-service pickup and return options are available, including after-hours access when arranged as part of your reservation. Follow the instructions provided with your reservation and you can get on the road without waiting for a traditional rental counter to open.

What do I need to bring when I pick up my trailer?

Before arriving, make sure you have:

  • Your valid driver's license
  • Your insured tow vehicle
  • The correct hitch and ball size
  • The required trailer electrical connection
  • A functioning brake controller when required
  • Your reservation information
WHAT'S INCLUDED
What's included with my trailer rental?

We don't believe basic rental equipment should come with a bunch of surprise add-on charges. Depending on the trailer, your rental may include:

  • Loading ramps
  • Basic tie-down straps
  • Spare tire
  • Other trailer-specific equipment

Check the individual trailer listing to see exactly what comes with your rental.

Do you provide tie-down straps?

Basic tie-down equipment is included with applicable trailers at no additional charge. Every load is different, so the renter is responsible for determining whether additional or specialized tie-down equipment is necessary and for properly securing all cargo.

Do you provide ramps?

Ramps are included with trailers designed to use them. Check the individual trailer listing to see exactly what equipment is included.

Can I rent a hitch or ball mount?

Hitch and ball-mount options may be added to qualifying reservations when available. Availability and compatibility depend on your tow vehicle and trailer.

TOWING & VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS
How do I know if my vehicle can tow the trailer?

Every trailer listing provides the key specifications you need to review:

  • Empty trailer weight
  • GVWR
  • Payload capacity
  • Hitch/ball size
  • Electrical connection
  • Brake requirements

Your tow vehicle must be properly rated for the trailer AND the cargo. If you're unsure, contact us before booking.

What is payload capacity?

Payload capacity is how much cargo the trailer can safely carry. For example, if a trailer has a GVWR of 7,000 lbs. and weighs 2,000 lbs. empty, its approximate payload capacity is 5,000 lbs. Never exceed the listed GVWR or payload capacity.

What does GVWR mean?

GVWR stands for Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It is the maximum allowable weight of the trailer and everything loaded onto or into it combined.

What size hitch ball do I need?

It depends on the trailer. Our fleet uses different hitch sizes, including 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch balls. The required ball size is clearly listed on each trailer's page.

What electrical connection do I need?

Depending on the trailer, you'll need either a 4-way or 7-way trailer connection. Your tow vehicle must have a functioning connection so the trailer lights and braking equipment, when applicable, operate properly.

Do I need a trailer brake controller?

Some trailers and loads require a properly functioning brake controller. Brake requirements depend on the trailer, tow vehicle, and load. Each trailer listing identifies its braking and electrical requirements.

PICKUP INSPECTION & SAFETY
Do I need to inspect the trailer before leaving?

Yes. Before leaving the rental lot, renters are required to complete a walk-around inspection and provide the required video showing:

  • Trailer condition
  • Tires
  • Hitch and safety connections
  • Electrical connection
  • Trailer lights functioning properly

This documents the trailer's condition at pickup and helps protect both you and Utah RV & Trailer Rentals.

Who is responsible for securing my load?

The renter is responsible for properly loading, distributing the weight of, and securing all cargo. Always make sure cargo is properly secured before traveling and periodically check the load and tie-downs during your trip.

Can you load or secure my vehicle or equipment for me?

We can provide general information about the trailer and included equipment, but the renter is responsible for loading, weight distribution, and properly securing the cargo.

DURING YOUR RENTAL
Can I use the trailer for multiple trips?

Yes. During your approved rental period, you may use the trailer for multiple trips as long as all use complies with the rental agreement, weight limitations, geographic restrictions, and permitted uses.

Are there mileage charges?

No. Unlike rental trucks, our trailer rental pricing is based on the rental period rather than the number of miles you tow it.

Can I take the trailer outside Utah?

Yes. Our trailers may travel outside Utah within the United States, subject to the terms and geographic restrictions of your rental agreement.

Can I take the trailer into Canada or Mexico?

No. Our rental trailers must remain within the United States and may not be taken into Mexico or Canada.

Can someone else tow the trailer?

Only authorized drivers approved under the rental agreement may tow our trailers. Contact us before allowing another person to tow the trailer.

What if I get a flat tire?

Applicable trailers are equipped with a spare tire. If you experience a tire problem or other mechanical issue, contact us as soon as it is safe to do so so we can help determine the appropriate next step.

What if the trailer is damaged during my rental?

Contact us immediately. Do not attempt major repairs without authorization unless action is necessary to address an immediate safety emergency. Damage beyond normal wear and tear may be the renter's responsibility under the rental agreement.

EXTENDING & RETURNING
What if I need to keep the trailer longer?

Call or text us as soon as you know you need more time. If the trailer isn't already reserved for another customer, we'll be happy to help extend your rental.

All extensions must be approved before your scheduled return time.

What happens if I'm late returning the trailer?

Contact us immediately if you're running late. Unapproved late returns may result in additional rental charges and can impact the next customer's reservation.

Do I need to clean the trailer before returning it?

Please return the trailer in reasonably clean condition and remove personal belongings, cargo, trash, and dirt or debris beyond normal use. Additional cleaning fees may apply if excessive cleaning is required.

Do I need to refill anything?

No fuel refill is required for our trailers. Simply return the trailer on time, reasonably clean, and with all included rental equipment.

What happens if I lose or damage included equipment?

All ramps, straps, spare tires, locks, and other equipment provided with your rental must be returned with the trailer. Missing or damaged equipment may be charged to the card on file.

CARGO & PROHIBITED USES
Can I haul dirt, gravel, or landscaping materials?

Certain trailers may be used for approved bulk materials as long as the load does not exceed the trailer's payload or GVWR and the material will not damage the trailer. Some materials may be prohibited. If you're unsure, contact us before booking.

Can I haul hazardous materials?

No. Hazardous, explosive, illegal, or otherwise prohibited materials may not be transported in our rental trailers.

Can I overload the trailer if my truck can handle the weight?

No. Your tow vehicle AND trailer must both be rated for the intended load. A truck's towing capacity does not increase the trailer's GVWR or payload capacity. Never exceed the weight limits of the trailer, tow vehicle, hitch, or other towing equipment.

PRICING, DEPOSITS & POLICIES
Do you require a security deposit?

Yes. A $200 security deposit is required for trailer rentals. The deposit may be used toward damage, missing equipment, excessive cleaning, or other charges permitted under your rental agreement.

Do you offer discounts for longer rentals?

Yes. Save when you keep your trailer longer:

  • 3-DAY RENTAL — Save 10% off the regular daily rate.
  • WEEKLY RENTAL — Save 20% off the regular daily rate.

Check current pricing and availability when booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation charges depend on how close the cancellation occurs to the scheduled rental period. Please review the cancellation policy shown during checkout and in your rental agreement before completing your reservation.

Are there cleaning fees?

A standard cleaning fee isn't something we want to charge when a trailer is returned in normal, reasonably clean condition. If a trailer requires additional cleaning due to excessive dirt, debris, trash, or other conditions beyond normal use, a cleaning fee may be assessed according to the rental agreement.

RESERVATIONS & AVAILABILITY
How far in advance should I reserve?

We recommend reserving as early as possible, especially for weekends, holidays, moving weekends, recreational travel periods, and longer rentals. Same-day rentals may also be available depending on inventory.

Can I rent a trailer the same day?

If we have availability, absolutely. Check our online booking system for current availability or contact us for assistance.
